Re breaches 52 mark on heavy dollar demand

Rupee crossed 52 for the first time to dip to an all-time intra-day low of Rs 52.20 against the greenback but recovered slightly at the end. The Indian currency has depreciated 6.7% in 2009 so far. It fell more than 19% in 2008. On Tuesday, rupee opened trading on a firm note at Rs 51.80 per dollar and appreciated to 51.55. But the high demand of dollar pulled rupee down in the afternoon trading session.
